Our quarterly magazine serves the interests of all our members, who vary from successful authors to virtual novices. It includes details of our meetings, poetry, competitions, letters, marketing information, advice and the work of members. This includes winning competition entries and articles, short stories and poems that have not been submitted for competition, or had failed to win. Thus all members are given the chance to see their work published, as we wish to encourage all of our members, not just those who have already succeeded. To some extent we are a club of kindred spirits. Many attend meetings, others depend upon Author as the means by which they communicate, everyone shares a love of writing.

The editor accepts work in any form, but it makes his task easier and improves the prospect of being published in Author, if it is submitted in the following form.

  • Use A4 size paper
  • Type on one side of the page only
  • Leave a one inch left-hand-side margin
  • Put your name on the manuscript, even though it appears on a covering sheet
  • Short stories should not exceed 2,500 words (preferably less)
  • Articles, particularly about writing, are welcome - 1,000 to 1,500 words preferred
  • All short stories, articles and letters should be sent to the Editor.

All poems should be sent to the Poetry Editor.

Entries may be sent by mail or email (please send email entries as attachments saved as Rich Text Format [.rtf] files)
