To encourage authorship by present and past members of the Civil Service, Armed Forces and certain other public service bodies and to provide opportunities for social and cultural activities.

The annual subscription is due on January 1^st each year. In addition to the Annual Luncheon and the AGM, meetings are held from time to time at the Civil Service Club, Great Scotland Yard (close to Charing Cross), at the Civil Service Sports and Recreation Centre, Chadwick Street or St. Vincent Centre, London SW I or at Beckenham, Kent.

There is an annual Poetry Weekend at Birmingham University and the Society would be happy to support and encourage writers' weekend meetings in any part of the country.
