Poetry Workshop

Founded in 1970 by Bill Barnes, the Poetry Workshop is a self-governing group within the Society of Civil and Public Service Writers.

Membership is open to anyone who works, or has worked, in the Civil & Public Service.

Annual subscription for members of the Society of Civil & Public Service Writers is £5.00

For those who are not members of the Society, the subscription is £7.00

Membership of the Poetry Workshop provides:

  • three lively Newsletters each year, plus a fourth, competition special issue
  • the chance of publication in Waves (the annual collection of PW members' work)
  • access to the popular Postal Folio scheme
  • eligibility for the Bill Barnes Poetry Competition (exclusively for PW members)
  • eligibility for the annual PW Weekend at the University of Birmingham
